Betty Minor

As a small child, I was always interested in all art projects. That interest continued through high school. After marriage, I competed in local-craft shows in the Washington D.C. area.

My husband was in the State Dept. Foreign Service during the period 1965-1990 so I had several opportunities to study many local art forms at various overseas posts.   In Japan I learned about a very old Japanese art form called Gyotaku.  I learned many things in the Philippines, Lebanon and Hungary.  In Mexico, I was accepted in the Exclusive School of Impressionist Art in Mexico City.  I later found out I was the first American invited to attend.  In the USA, I studied under John Young of Chantilly, Virginia.  I worked on my graphics design degree in Virginia.  Today, I paint with a group of women under the direction of Kathi Hobbs of Tampa, Florida.

I have displayed various forms of art at numerous galleries and shops over the years.

1.    Agora Navcalli, Mexico City

2.    Vienna Art Society, Vienna, Virginia

3.    Alexander Gallery, Virginia

4.    Mt. Dora, Florida

5.    The Saxon Swan, Lewes, Delaware

6.    First Street Gallery, St. Augustine, Florida

7.    Willow Arts, Tampa, Florida

8.    Bold Brush Competition, sponsored by FASO (Fine             Arts Studio On-Line.   Made the top 15% in May 2012.

9.    FASO Bold Brush Competition - 15% in June 2012.

10.   FASO Bold Brush Competition - 15% in May 2015.

I now have a wonderful new neighbor who has become my very good friend.  We are starting a new art adventure, called Artistic Chicks Studio.  We have a lot of the same art interests and related projects.

Sheila Geraci

Hello, Welcome to the website Artistic Chicks Studio. My name is Sheila. I enjoy wild parties, fast cars and living in the city...

Ha! Just kidding. I am not fond of any of those things. More seriously my friends would describe me as a patient, easy going and organized with a little OCD. When I die they say they will bury me with a broom. Guess there could be worse things to be buried with. NO, I am not a witch. Well maybe to a few.

I love the outdoors, my daughter Lauren, my dog Gunner, my friends, working in the yard and my seven beautiful hens. I love to travel, cook, eat, hunt and fish. I love spending time with my 28 year old daughter and would say she is my greatest accomplishment. I have never been a person who stood out in the crowd but was the one in the background making sure everything went right for everyone else.

Born and raised in the South where yes ma'am and yes sir were used at all times. I have a good life and am very blessed. I believe in God, my Country, the Second Amendment and love Country Music.

Life throws you different paths from time to time. Some for the better but you alone have to figure it out. Life moves on whether you feel sorry for yourself or you pick up the pieces, smile and find a passion for something you never knew existed. I have always loved working with my own personal interior designs, remodeling, helping other friends with colors and interior design for their homes. Thanks to my friend and neighbor Betty who said "you should pick up a paint brush and see what you can do". So I did and here we are. Enjoying every minute I paint.  We are the kind of neighbors you used to have when you were little. Borrowing a cup of sugar, sharing a glass of wine or just checking on each other and just being neighborly. Everyone has their struggles but it is how you deal with them and what you find to do to get you through them. A couple of quotes about art for us all to think about.

"Art is the only way to run away without leaving home" Tyla Tharp

"Life beats you down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one." Stella Adlar

Thank you for visiting the web site. Hope you find something you like in the art we display. Feel free to contact us and in the meantime we will keep on painting, smiling and loving every day.  God Bless.
